Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about HD Video Player and the Secure Private Folder.
How do I access the Private Folder in HD Video Player?
For ultimate privacy, the Private Folder is hidden. To open it,
long-press either
the "Videos" or "Photos" tab on the bottom navigation bar. This ensures that only users who
know the secret gesture can find your private files.
Is it safe to hide my private videos here?
Yes. Our app uses AES-GCM encryption to lock your files. Once moved to
the Private Folder, they are hidden from the phone's gallery and cannot be accessed by any
other
media players or file managers.
Will my files in the private folder be saved if I uninstall the app?
Yes. By default, the Private Folder uses persistent storage. Your
encrypted files
remain on your device even after the app is uninstalled. Simply reinstall the app to access
them again. Note: Only the HD Video Player app can decrypt these files.
What happens if I forget my Private Folder PIN?
During setup, you are provided with a unique 24-character Recovery Code.
For your convenience, this code is automatically backed up to a secure folder in your
Google Drive if you are signed in. You can use this code at any time to verify your
identity and reset your PIN.
Does the Private Folder support 4K and large video files?
Absolutely. The Private Folder is optimized for high-performance
processing,
allowing you to secure 4K, 8K, and Ultra HD video formats without affecting device speed or
playback quality.
Are my hidden files uploaded to the internet?
No. We prioritize your privacy through a local-first security model.
Your files are encrypted and stored offline on your device and are never transmitted to
external servers.
Why is Google Sign-in required for the Private Folder?
Google Sign-in creates a privacy safety net. It allows the app to
securely back up your 24-character recovery code and file metadata to a private,
app-specific folder on your Drive. This ensures that if you lose your phone or reinstall the
app, you can seamlessly restore access to your encrypted files.
What is "Zero-Knowledge" encryption?
It means that your PIN is the only key to your private folder. We follow
a strict zero-knowledge security model: your files are encrypted locally, and we have no
"backdoor" or master key to access them. Even we cannot help you recover your files if you
lose both your PIN and your recovery code.
Can I manually sync my Private Folder backup?
Yes. While the app handles backups automatically, you can trigger a
manual update at any time. Go to the main App Settings and look for the "Private Folder
Settings" section to find the "Backup to Drive" option.
How do I switch to another audio track?
While watching, click on the three dots icon at the top right corner and
choose the "Audio Track" option to see all available tracks.
What if the video is playing without audio?
Try changing the decoder to "Software codec" by clicking the three dots
icon, selecting "Decoder", and choosing "Software codec".
Why can't I play a 4K video?
4K playback depends on your device's hardware performance. Most modern
devices with 4K recording support will play these files smoothly.
